Sheshe Baharini is located on Kenya’s south coast and based on Tiwi Beach, widely acknowledged to be one of the finest beaches in Kenya. It has powdery white sands washed by the warm, tropical waters of the Indian Ocean and fringed by palm trees, and is unspoiled and secluded.
The soft, sandy beach is perfect for swimming and sunbathing, protected from rough water (and larger, fiercer forms of sea life) by a coral reef approximately one km out to sea. The reef can be accessed at low tide by the more adventurous and there are wonderful beach walks to either side of Sheshe.
Take a long early morning walk 1- 2 km to the right and you will discover an estuary opening into a lagoon with the ruins of a 500 year old mosque on its banks. The same distance in the other direction will lead you to an ancient cliff face with myriad caves and rock pools.
The coral reef offers fantastic scuba diving, which we will be happy to arrange for you on request. As well as stunning coral gardens, you are also very likely to see turtles, rays, dolphins, all manner of tropical fish, and in January, even whale sharks as they pass through Tiwi on their annual migration.
We can also arrange other activities such as , deep sea fishing, wind surfing, snorkelling, dhow trips, camel rides and safaris into the Tsavo and Shimba Hills game reserves which are only a couple of hours drive away.
Although it seems like a sanctuary, a million miles away from the hubbub of everyday life, Sheshe Baharini is only a short drive away from Mombasa Island's Moi International Airport, which is flown to daily by most major airlines.
It is also only 20 minutes away from the tourist hotspot of Diani beach with its vibrant nightlife and sport and leisure facilities. Transfers to and from Moi International Airport and Mombasa train station can be arranged on request.
